While preparing for this review we spent a lot of time to read
comparison articles and customer surveys. There are a lot of tables
which compare FatCow and iPage. And here comes the big surprise. If you
open both sites you will notice the big similarity, even more - there
are full text articles which are totally one and the same. This was of
course the "embarrassing" question which we asked in FatCow's LiveChat
and the truth was revealed to us for few minutes. FatCow and iPage are
syster companies. This means that they are owned by one and the same
parent company.
The hosting plan features, server specifications, location, hosting policies are one and the same; even they share one data center and support team. As their chat operator explained FatCow is the older company. But what is really confusing is that the prices are not the same. The iPage offer is for $54 per year. The same one with FatCow will be $78 per year. We have asked one and the same question several times and it was what can be the reason to choose FatCows for 24$ per year more. The chat operator could not answer that adequately and claimed that there are no special add-ons or free features that can excuse the bigger price.
However we were not able to determine which of them is better and more reliable. After all FatCow is not a stranger in the webhosting concurrent world and it is highly appreciated among the specialists.
